    Or what about the Clintons using "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac after winning in '96. Christine McVie said she didn't understand why they would use a song they'd written about divorce.

    The author's meaing behind the songs isn't what counts, it's the publics perception that has impact. Regardless of Bruce's intentions, the song is usually perceived as patriotic and I bet he ain't bitching about the royalties :D

    Funny. For all intents and purposes, that's how Dick Morris pulled off Boris Yeltsin's re-election when most people thought he was a goner. Something like "Yeah, he's a drunk and getting old, but think of the alternative!"
