Can someone with an engineering background in superbikes and their development expand on BMW’s logic for me?
I will hunt for the original patent application in the morning. as of now I’d say less components, only some additional damping required, the swing arm is its own leaf spring. No stick/slip effect and it’s related friction in bearings and bushings, no heavy swing arm .
I was a suspension tech for American Honda Racing and a quality engineer for Delphi on Magnaride and I don’t think this will make it past risk assessment attorneys. That’s a accident waiting to happen in my opinion.
Seems like a great idea. Introduce a bike whose service intervals include a full frame replacement down the line..........
