If all these carbon wheels keep breaking it only seems logical to add a stressed rigid swingarm for good measure

Can someone with an engineering background in superbikes and their development expand on BMW’s logic for me?

    Phl218 .

I will hunt for the original patent application in the morning.

as of now I’d say less components, only some additional damping required, the swing arm is its own leaf spring.
No stick/slip effect and it’s related friction in bearings and bushings, no heavy swing arm .

I was a suspension tech for American Honda Racing and a quality engineer for Delphi on Magnaride and I don’t think this will make it past risk assessment attorneys. That’s a accident waiting to happen in my opinion.

Yeah I was making sure I could trust my gut instinct on this one.

I'd like to see how this contraption would hold up to NYC pot holes.

i'd assume they sandwich spring steel and CF to incorporate a safety factor...

The bacon makes me think it's not rigid.

    Looks like it could.

    Seems like a great idea.

Introduce a bike whose service intervals include a full frame replacement down the line..........
