I just received an Avon AM20 front race tire, I was about to mount it and noticed it says "Tube type" I am mounting it on a tubeless rim, should I throw a tube in it or mount it without? It's going on an RZ 350
I don't know the answer [I ran my AM20 w/ spoked rim and tube] but I remember Mike Baldwin once winning a race in which he ran over someone's carburetor which flattened his cast rim but he had a tube in there and it held....
run it tubless, Harold Hudnell used to run that tire tubless on rd 400 mags, they are not tubless mags. never had any problems.
I've had no problems running them tubeless on rz rims, (both street bikes and race bikes) but did have one rim (rear)that wouldn't hold air for more than a week. Just make sure to check tire press in the am before you hit the track (like I'm sure you do already...) and everything will be cool.
