The police operate with a completely different mindset in the UK to what you're used to. Compared to the US there is very minimal gun crime.

As for the two WPC's if it's the case I'm thinking about, it was supposed to be a routine call. It was an ambush, the bloke involved had a vendetta against the police and wanted some sort of revenge, he used a hand grenade as well as a gun.

 

Once enough of them are killed when they should have been providing protection, sure.
Unfortunately, the people committing these atrocities don't give a fuck about your cultural norms. They have their own.
