Ok kids... rumor has it there's more than a couple of y'all from the ATL area. I'm headed down there weekend of 2/1-2/3 and hotel rooms are sparse. (Yes, SuperBowl weekend, I get it). Want to be on the side of town where Sun Trust Park is. My buddy is having his home brew unveiled at Terrapin and I'm coming down for it. Any spots to stay away from (bad section of town) or smaller lesser known spots to look into? What's the UBER/LYFT scene like down there? Thanks!
You are going to be in a "take what you can get" situation. If you want to be near(ish) to SunTrust then you are looking along the I-75 corridor. Start at Marietta and work your way north. It doesn't get too scary in general. You will probably be out towards Kennesaw at this point though, and I don't know what the car services will look like from here to SunTrust.
You want to stay inside the perimeter... It's the polite thing to do to not bother those of us who live outside the perimeter. Enjoy your stay then get the hell out.
For less money look at Woodstock or Canton. North on 575 may be much less $$$$ but would be 20-40 drives. Uber shouldn't be a problem from woodstock. Canton could be iffy.
Look...we are trying to keep this Super bowl nonsense contained where it should be...you are not helping.
Check Priceline for Extended Stay property in Kennesaw, at 3000 George Busbee Parkway. https://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/ga/atlanta/kennesaw-town-center RE: uber - plenty of drivers in the area; The Battery is a new place for amateur drunks to meet their own kind.
after the Metallica Hardwired Tour opener, @Ritchie "Metalhead" McGooberpants and I stayed in the Marriott Courtyard across the interstate . walking distance from the Suntrust arena. if you can still walk in a straight line. it was the only hotel left of probably 30 around there, the price reflected that. but they had free drinks.
