In the responses... "Widely uncontrollable". Only thing I know about the CBX is people have twisted the cam shafts, and a friend of a friend put Silkolene in prior to a road trip. Every time they stopped, he had to turn the idle down. The Silkolene was, apparently, very slick.
My dad twisted two intake camshafts on his. Both broke after the first intake lobe on the left side of the engine.
One response said it would do 11's, and would go 70 in first gear! Oh, ah, uh, OK. As if it were....a big deal. Hell my stock, pipes and all '83 GS1100ES- all original did 11's at 116, with me on it. But granted, this is a nice find- if you can stomach that wide ass engine!
A lot of the '81's and '82's were donated to schools by Honda...known as "school bikes" in the CBX community. Apparently this one could have been one of these and never made it into the clumsy hands of the students in auto shop. I had a '82 for quite a few years, a good club and quite a few loyal followers for the CBX.
I had a '79 for a while. It had a D&D 6-1 when I got it but had absolutely no clearance underneath. Swapped it out for a stainless 6-2 Supertrapp. Best sounding engine I ever owned.
