What is the general consensus about Corum watches. They have a few watches I like. Respected brand or no?
Corum makes some nice watches but they have way too much going on for me. I’m okay with their admiral series but I don’t dig their coin series at all.
niche. Boating Numismatists (coin collectors) some good ones in the Admiral line as Dave said. Movements are good
They are big with poker players. Not $5 a hand poker players but the big swinging dick poker players. aren’t their movements ETA and modified ETAs?
I think that’s because they seem to very much a niche watch. Once again, really not my style but they have a couple in their line I’d sport.
I got the Combat Straps guy to make a custom stingray strap for the Speedmaster. I love it! I highly recommend him if you want something custom and high quality.
The Rolex Shop in Waikiki had a fully stocked set of cases. 2 watches in each case, 10 total. Oddly, Tonneau across the street, had about 15-20 watches each of multiple high end brands. (IWC, Patek, Hublot, Rolex, Tudor, etc.)
Joma must have received a large stockpile of them, they’ve been periodically pushing some unreal discounts on them for awhile. As others have mentioned, their Admiral line has some solid and well respected watches. I’ve been pretty temped by a few on Joma. They also tend to go wild with some of their designs that certainly are polarizing. Wouldn’t consider them an investment watch, but they’d probably retain their value if you catch them when Joma’s doing 70+% off retail, after a few years.
I've seen a lot of Patek, AP, and Vacheron at the televised events. I've also seen some G-Shocks and smahht watches too. Fads seem to pervade different groups.
