The SM-X Bionic vest does double duty with CE Level-2 armor in both the front and rear. Level 2 certified armor provides twice the energy absorption as Level 1 armor yet, this kit from Alpinestars is actually 15mm thinner and 130 grams lighter than the previous model.

Adjustable straps over the shoulders are easy to cinch to the correct fit for your size and have moveable pads for comfort. They whole kit makes getting into and out of your leathers a little easier as it’s all done in one piece. The Velcro-adjustable waist strap doubles as a kidney belt too. The whole contraption is designed with vents for airflow to keep your skin cool and provides all-day comfort.

The Bionic SP Vest (MSRP $149.95) is more of a vest than the SM-X (MSRP $199.95) model and even easier to use in conjunction with a suit. Although it does not have adjustable shoulder straps, it does use a Velcro adjustable kidney belt. A zip-out CE Level 2 back protector is included with the suit along with a part of Alpinestars Bionic Chest pads.

Breathable all-around, this vest also makes getting into and out of your suit a snap. Both vests are available in different sizes and TJ can help determine which one fits you best.
