Sucks. My dad thought he had it once. They did surgery (I think they yanked his pancreas out) but thankfully it was benign. I didn’t realize Trebec was 78 years old though. That’s getting up there.
My wife’s dad died from pancreatic cancer two years ago, and my Mom’s husband died from it last Halloween. One of my best friends died from it five years ago last week. Cancer sucks, but especially pancreatic. Brutal cancer.
I hope it’s true and not just PR stuff. 5-year survival rate hovers around or just below 3%. Would love to see him beat this. In my past experience I’ve seen the cancers initially respond to the chemo only to mutate and come roaring back.
I got a bad feeling that there's going to be an announcement at the end of the tournament of champions show tonight. I hope I'm wrong. I can't imagine who the hell could take that guy's place. Those are some big shoes.
Alex is a classy guy, well respected. Pat Sajak had a heart procedure last week. We are all getting old.
I thought about him, probably too nerdy, not polished. Ken Jennings is an obvious choice. Gilbert Collins. Princeton University administrator who is in the tournament of champions. Can't recall if he was eliminated yet. I'd call him the 'dark horse' candidate but someone would holler 'racist!' I do think that he would be a good choice though.
