Working on repainting the hood of an International 4300 truck which is ABS. For the most part it will be scuff/prime/shoot except 1 spot about the size of a hand with some rash. Can I use regular body filler on the scratches/rash or is there something else I should consider.

This isn't gonna be a show truck, just doing a color change.

They make ABS panel filler or use an ABS panel bond adhesive for adhesion and flexibility.

It's not broken, just scuffed pretty good. I want to sand, fill, sand, prime.

Depending on the depth, I've used a razor scraper/heatgun/sandpaper on ABS panels and after paint the repair was dang near invisible.

-sound down and feather edge the area of the scratches with some 80/180

    -clean with windex, dry well

-apply spray can plastic adhesion promoter

-fill scratch area with plastic repair filler. Don’t build it too high. Let it dry for a while

-sand filler with 180. Don’t leave any filler on top. Sand til you can see the scratches with filler in it Clean again

    -apply plastic adhesion promoter again

    -prime with a catalyzed primer

    -prep/paint
