I’m 1.5 hours from the start line for one of the dumbest things I’ll ever do in my life. Over year ago, with a questionable blood alcohol content, I agreed to wingman my best friend in attempt to break a world record for the fastest marathon carrying a 100 pound pack. Last year torrential downpours soaked our packs and feet and ruined our chances. This year the weather looks good and we’re fit and healthy. Let the games begin! The real mission is to raise money for the charity he founded, 4th HOOAH WI. Our main focus is providing a myriad of programs to benefit vets, primarily in an attempt to lower the epidemic rate of veteran suicides. If anyone is interested in helping us reach our goal of $10k, you can donate here: https://hooahinc.org/event/worldrecordattempt/ This is going to suck, but bleeding feet and broken bodies are nothing compared to the pain endured by those suffering from depression and PTSD. Thanks all! Donations are cool, and so are positive vibes. Wish us luck.
Well it’s done. My brother Will crushed the world record by over 20 minutes with a 6:27. I had issues at mile 15 and finished 9 minutes behind at a 6:36. Both times were under the existing record of 6:47, so we’re pumped. More importantly, the effort dramatically exceeded its fundraising goal. I’m not privy to information regarding donations, so if any of you donated, thank you. What a day. Time to celebrate.
Damn. Whoever pinned this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s an amazing charity run by 100% volunteers, so every penny counts. Not even the national president is paid by the organization. So again, thank you for helping us spread the word!
Great job. Rucking with that much weight REALLY sucks... Next time maybe just carry @Dave K as it would be less weight...and he could sing motivational songs.
Wow good to hear. The only news story I’ve seen so far included footage of me sobbing like a bitch. Thanks for that!
