Which one gets to 50 MPH first?

For discussion sake, assume it's the same rider [capability] on each bike.

With the same rider I'd say the 1000 because he doesn't have to shift. The SV will have to shift. The 600 won't have to shift either but makes less power than the 1000. Hands down I'd put my money on the 1000

Depends on the rider capability. Ricky Gadson would be faster on the 1000. I'd be faster on the SV.

the 600 & 1000 have enough power to lift the front wheel for the whole run, maybe the SV too. so max drive force is probably limited by swingarm geometry. id guess the 1000 has a longer swingarm and is overall more resistant to wheelie, so im gonna go w/ that.

wiki has a list of 0-60 times for production motorcycles and 1000s are generally faster than 1200s which are generally faster than 600s. weight comes into that one too. no idea on their testing methods of course.

If a rider isn't capable of properly launching a big(er) bike, how does that mean the bike is slower?

I just saw an article on Drive Tribe saying that a 1991 CBR 600 gets faster to 60 than a S1000RR HP4 on launch control. Easier to launch at full throttle.

Is it a new 1000 with launch and wheelie control?

The question was which bike gets to 50 first given the same rider. Obviously an SV isn't faster than a 1000 - except in my hands, haha.
