    TSC_113 Look At me!!!

Although I generally stay out of the political crap this is after all a Motorcycle BBS I wanted to share this.

I read this column from the Local Ottawa paper and I agree with it. I don't really pretend to understand the real reasons or timing of this war but I do hope that it's over quick and I support the guys who are doing the deadly part of the job.
I think that some of the vocal anti American retoric is stupid and pointless. I don't agree with some of Americas politics but I don't hate Americans.

    Thanks for listening.

That was a great column and totally unexpected from a Canadian writer. But - truth be told, most Americans who support the military action in Iraq really aren't too concerned with what Canadians think. We realize Canada leans WAY left and recognize the perspective from which their feelings emanate.

    Thanks for your post!

In Canada, the WAY left (socialist) party is the NDP. They currently have 13 out of 300 seats in the House. Their popularity peaked back in the late 80s when they were the official opposition. They have never been in power.

The ruling Liberal party is leftwing but generally is thought of as moderate by Canadians.

a good article for sure. being in the US for 3 years now, i had no idea that anti americanism might be that high. i certainly don't hate americans. and for one am also glad to have them as neighbors and friends. i also think they do a great deal of good around the world that is often overlooked because of the more controversial things they do (goverment wise).

Anti-American(ism) is a bullshit phrase coined by shit disturbers that lack any factual evidence to support their dribble. While this writer makes several good points, but as usual throws out the "Anti-American" - ism without providing any kind of factual basis.

Considering the fact that many Americans do not agree with the war, how is it that a foreigner, who agrees with an American, is Anti-American? Can an American, exercising their Consitiutional right to free speech be "Anti-American"??

For the extremely small minority, the handful of people who truely hate based on nationality, well who cares what they think anyway? Fuck 'em.

First off. Thanks Rick for fixing the link. I didn't even notice it was bad at first.

As for the lack of Facts: He quoted 2 Americans who live here and feel that way. For sure it's a small sample but First person quotes qualify as facts in most places.

I don't think it is as rampant as these people think but I'm not an American in Canada and I don't know of any. I also don't know anyone who hates Americans.

I know many people who don't understand this war and don't agree with it but that doesn't make them anti-american in my books either.

This thread makes me wonder what , if any, reaction I'll get to the american flags pasted on my bike, seeing as how I do all my racing in Canada.

    You know this Canadian Rek.....

You know this Canadian Rek. I am disgusted and embarassed at my govt stance on this war. My/our freinds to the south need to know (even if they/you dont care) there is a silent majority in Canada that supports our freinds in this war. These pollsters and the pussy Liberal government listen to the Quebec voice (a major electoral player in Canadian politics) and we all know what the French are about. I sport American flags on all my vehicles, my race leathers, (and as you know) I always fly an American flag in my pit. I even wear a crossed American/Canadian flag pin on my jacket. I am going to a pro-USA rally being held at city hall in Toronto on Friday at noon. Please belive that all Canadians are not against this myself and by a large majority all my freinds are pro-USA and are thankful for your national stance on this war. The tree hugging peaceniks can kiss my bid hairy Canadian ass. Good luck and god bless all the brave troops in harms way.

    Hey Rek.

I'm hoping and betting you won't hear a single word against you.

Look for Team Shouldercheck at the races this summer and I'll buy you a beer.

I don't imagine I'll have any troubles, I've had nothing but good experiences racing up north. Except this one time, this guy george knocked me down in turn one, but he's a Newfie, so I let it slip just that once. :D

Yeah, most of them are. I suspect the a$$clown and butthead ratio is about the same in Canada as it is here in the States. To be honest, outside of Quebec and minus the constant 'eh' they are really no different that we are (and vice-versa), eh hoser?

Thank you, that was a nice read! :D

Don't forget what the Canadians did for us in Iran. I read an article about a New York trooper who pulled over a couple from Ontario (you guys are always speeding, btw! ;) ) right after that happened. He took their license and whatever and went back to his cruiser. When he came back he handed them what appeared to be a ticket and tipped his hat and left. When they looked at the ticket, all that was written on it was "Thank You!"
