Hey Mark, hypothetical here.....but if V1 bikes with DRUMS were allowed into 500GP.....Lyn's RD has a disk, right? That would drive a choice there, right? That thing was still fast, even with the drum, way back when.....I'd bet they still have the setup.
Agreed Joe. Yes, it's 396cc. Hopefully Sean will 'widen the envelope' in the rulebook to allow vintage bikes to run with the modern stuff. Clubman or DSBK would be good examples.
396cc already makes it Clubman legal. That's why I had to special order the cylinders for my hybrid at 66mm bore. Usually the smallest they sell is 68mm. A rulebook update would be needed to make your bike DSB legal. It fits there too IMO.
Thanx fellas!.....I really do appreciate it more than you guys probably know. WERA Vintage = some of the best friends I've ever had.
Won't shoot you Charlie, but fact is All the V1 bikes are V2 bikes.... and 95 percent of Gp 500 bikes are GP 350 bikes bumbing up to Gp 500.... if you let V1 bikes and V2 bikes in, most guys won't show up or won't spend big bucks to update to V1 go fast parts.... Then V1 is back to where it was before...
Thanx Richie. Dougie, ya know I love ya man, but please read Seans post about the pistons. They are legal....unless you are talking about something else. You run with the V1 guys every race. What happens, happens....I still think V1 with drum brake (not V2) to 500GP, sorry......it just aint that big of a deal.
Happy birthday Charlie. TDR racing is planning a test and tune on one of the trackdays in feb, probably Sunday February 11th.All vintage racers are encouraged to attend! Bring your ass over from Jacksonville Charlie and you can ride one of my screaming 2 Strokes for the day. Keith
I wish I would be ready. I could really use a good test and tune day. I need to get the lean spot at partial (1/8-1/4) throttle sorted. Every piston I have pulled out of this motor has been hot at the exhaust port. (slightly rounded off edge)
