since i'm the type that really likes to plan things way in advance.... i think i'm gonna head north in a couple hours....maybe go up the east coast of mich through traverse, petosky, good hope.....do m119 a couple hundred times and get to st. ignace tonight. then do m119 a bit on the way back and come home tomorrow nite.
i'm baaaa-aaaack 660 miles...... my butt is sore. colors have not started changing in the u.p. yet.....about 1-5%. the mackinac bridge is always breath-taking. m119 is a cool road (best in michigan)....but definitely not as good as down south roads (nc, tenn, ky, etc) chase lounge is a pretty cool band out of cinci....listened to them in petoskey.
That color change is from no rain!!! I work landscaping and unless a lawn in my area has a irrigation system its not been cut in two weeks or more
Give me more than 10 minutes notice next time and I would be happy to join you. Sounds like a cool trip.
yup. the fz is my only street bike. m-37 is only ok. m-22 up the coast and around lelenau peninsula is cool m-119 is almost worth the extra 100 miles past traverse city
NW isn't it? m119 isn't even close. The ride from Houghton/Hancock to Copper Harbor is hands down the best road in Michigan (28 and 41). M119 is a far distant 2nd (or 3rd if if you consider that one super smooth section of curves on M32 with the paved shoulders and no driveways or crossroads)
Re: NW isn't it? could be...i've only been as far west as marquette in the u.p. where on m-32? i remember taking that route a while back....but don't remember anything worth going back for.
Re: Re: NW isn't it? It's like right after you get off of 131 (?) and head west towards East Jordan. It's only about 8 curves maybe. And the next one, is a section of curves on Sharons Rd. I was there last weekend and probably went back and forth through them at least a half dozen times. Those are the ones with the paved shoulders. Super clean, super smooth for public highway. No dirt, no pebbles. But the loop from Hancock to Copper Harbor is worth writing home about. Don't do it on a weekend, but it's really awesome. Okay, it's no Deals Gap. But sweet. And, ya... start planning these things a little in advance man.
WERA storms the roads of Michigan. I can see the headlines now - "Licensed Motorcyclist Fined for Teabagging on 131.."
Re: Re: Re: NW isn't it? i just took c-48 west into east jordan earlier today and there was a decent stretch in there.....i will have to remember the m-32 thing. next time i'll bump the advance notice up from 1 hour to 2 hours....that's about all i can promise.
