    hi there,

    my new gsxr1000 track machine has a totally stock front end. what would be the best and the most cost efficient way to set it up for maximum performance?? ive priced ohlins R&T and they are out of my budget!!

    "maximum" performance is tricky... but your options, in order of increasing cost and potential improvement:

    1. Fresh oil and adjust preload for correct sag, fiddle with adjusters;
    2. Add springs chosen for your bodyweight & riding style;
    3. Add re-shimming of stock damping valves and modified adjustment needles;
    4. Replacement valves from K-Tech, Ohlins, etc;
    5. Replace entire cartridge & spring and adjuster assembly with innards by K-Tech, Ohlins, WP, etc.

    If you get to step 4 or 5 and do it right, you should end up with something better than a pair of RT's, which are not that special. You could also get to step 5 and have something worse than stock. Best find someone who knows their stuff to help :)

    Blob, I noticed you have an SP1. Do you know any of the FI trouble codes? I'm trying to figure out code 8 and code 19.
