From what I understand from 3 other guys who contacted them. Within the past 2 weeks, There are NO new orders taking place. ONLY orders that were already standing are being fulfilled. They were told that AirTech is seeking a buyer any buyer. I don't recall such a prominent long standing motorcycle accessory company, so suddenly ceasing operations Especially with no real warning to the base of buyers that utilized their products. This seems to all have happened in less than 2 months..As a friend ordered a couple YZR500 bodywork kits from them only 40 days ago or so As I mentioned initially, I did wonder when I saw Mr. Richie's motorcycles being auctioned off @ The Mecum auctions . Alot we're sold late last year, and there's a whole bunch more listed as I type this for this weekend auction. I sure hope someone acquires his molds and puts them out there, for enthusiasts to purchase , it's a lousy time in history to be looking for a buyer in this economy. There just isn't another company that exists, that offers vintage bodywork. Before Sharkskins demise, they had some stuff for GSXRs....but mostly only for current 90s bikes of the time. Airtech, has it ALL especially for GSXRs and TZs and RDs.. NO ONE has what they do. They have Race bodywork..literally for just about any machine you could think of If ONLY I had some warning , I would ordered what I needed for my projects. I'm on a tight budget I would not have liked to have spent all that money at once for stuff I won't get to for a couple years but I still would have done it had I known. Without this race bodywork, I've simply NO interest in completing my bikes . 1.) RD400/TZ seats & tanks. 2.) 86 VFR 750 race upper & 1pc solo seat. 3.) 97 GSXR750 SRAD Race upper, and mids/lowers. Plus I've a Big Ass Itch to do a 1200+ cc bandit powered 7-11 style 86-89 GSXR..w Airteks endurance body work. Keep our fingers crossed...well see what happens.. Anyone here have any "decent used" GSXR or VFR, RD/TZ parts I listed above..let me know will ya...lol
Here's some hints Kent wants to retire as he's getting older and selling his collection Under 40 year olds aren't buying glass Under 30 year olds don't know what Airtech is Over 60 year olds buy glass every 10 years Sportbike sales have been in the shitter for years The R1 is discontinued So is the R6 Mongo killed roadracing years ago Any questions?
Well... that sucks. Hard. I've put off ordering a tail section for an '86 VFR700 until I got to the aesthetics portion of the rebuild. Sounds like I've waited too long. I tried calling and sent an email, but I'm not too hopeful.
Financially, it would be a very difficult venture to get in to. There's very little market for them and in order to do it, you'd have to charge 1500 bucks minimum and there just aren't many guys willing to fork that over.
Same thing happened with Ben @ Beasley Fiberglass last year, we tried to find someone to take all the vintage molds, even Parrish. Ben ended up throwing them all in the dumpster when he moved out....Sucks but time moves on.. Here's an out for some of u goons; https://www.ebay.com/str/ricambiweissracingparts
I found a soli seat in the U.K.. I've sent an email to the shop to see if they offer it. It's actually way nicer than the Air tech kit if you notice this solo seat integrates the stock tank and seat Gap where the Air tech leaves all the exposed sheet metal and stampings visible. If I hear back from him I will send you the link or info maybe there's a two-for-one deal. He's also advertising a race upper and midsection even with a catch tank if required.
That would be awesome, Rz. Thank you! I really don't want to have to try to repair the ones that came with the bike.
Phone just rings and rings, no answer. No reply to email either. Kinda sucks since there are no other options for a lot of bikes or body sets. I'd order a complete Muzzy Raptor kit right now and some oil cooled gsxr body stuff if I could get a hold of someone and they could deliver.
I have some Erion CBR900 race bodywork on order from Airtech so i called them the other day to get an update. They are finishing up existing orders but not taking any new orders. They had another shop interested in some of the molds but doesn't look like it will go through. They are open to offers on any molds that they have before they toss them into the trash heap. If you might be interested in any bodywork molds you need to email and call them asap.
Speaking of bodywork - One of my first real jobs was working at Body By Northstar. What happened to them?
I always meant to do a Ducati single Supersport conversion with their kit. I guess I'll just have to buy a real 900ss.
How do you know I haven’t contacted them about molds already? Who do you pay to store molds? Have you paid to store motorcycle body work molds before? Is it expensive? I may want to store the molds I buy. Do you know a good mold storage facility, in NC? Heck, you may own a mold storage company.
