I still like Wrastling. Don’t watch it often but it’s awesome mindless entertainment.

Watch his 20 for 20 if you can. Dude lives his gimmick and is hilarious.

While wrestlin' wasn't full on contact via punches, etc., there's definitely more "contact" at times, most often unintentional ("$hit happens), sometimes the blood was real at times (oops!).

But, the abuse they took in being slammed around in the ring, on tables, outside the ring wasn't for the weak.....even with them training "how to". Lotta them older fellas are feeling it today.

I sure wouldn't want to do it.

But yeah.....it's mostly fake, mostly scripted, but not entirely. I did watch it in the mid/late 80's, and knew it to be mostly fake.

And, yeah....some of these fans are WAAAAAYYY into it far too much.

 

Does anyone remember when Jerry Lawler smacked Andy Kaufmann on the David Letterman show? That's what I thought this was going to be!

 

Way back when I had a lawn maintenance business,we use to cut the Ga. mountain center weekly.The wraslers would usually show up while we were blowing down the sidewalks.You may want to sit down..............but it is Indeed scripted (sorry).They would come out and yell for us to turn off our blowers.
We would take a seat,and listen to the likes of the Nature Boy scream,and yell a skit...then a few minutes later a retake of the same yelling script. It was funny,time consuming,and alot of those guys are Giants in real life!! and really shitty people/roids i rekon.. The Steiner Bros. lived it.Always showed up in a Limo,and a shit ton of strippers! God bless em..

 

My only rasslin' tale is that I went to school with Dick Murdoch's boy.

Dude was 100% soy before soy was a thing. Complete puss.

Ohhh..I gotta bunch of em!! My Dads 2nd wife,and Family ate that shit for breakfast,and would fist fight you over it!! I will never forget my Dad telling the story of his new brother n law losing a Cowboy boot to the ring in Atlanta.Ernie the Cat Lad wuz fightn Dickie Slater!!! Dickie lost to Ernie,and Ricky!!! My Dads new brother n law threw his Cowboy boot at Ernie,and had to walk around with one boot back to the car FN Idiots!! They also use to hang out at the VFW and get into knife fights on weekends for fun,so theres that lifestyle mentality

A little over 20 years ago I worked in the returns dept
at a huge office supply chain and we used to sell these
tables in huge numbers.

We often got them back damaged and would sell them
for salvage. We sold hundreds of them to Killer Kowalski
for use at his wrestling school in N. Andover, MA so they
could practice smashing guys down on them.

 

Women's Roller Derby is still around in Boston. My favorite team is the Wicked Pissahs.

The physical aspect of it is incredible, what they did, how far they jumped, the damage to the body, but imagine watching motogp knowing that the winner of the race is already determined, in fact the entire season is determined, and the riders are giving interviews of how they’re gonna beat this guy or that guy, they got beef with this dirty rider etc….and the fans are eating it up…you’d look at those fans sideways too.

 

It's entertainment. They didn't actually shoot King Kong
off of the Empire State Building either.
