I want to switch away from Gmail to a paid-for private email with sufficient extra email addresses and enough storage. Their top-level package is $8-10 depending on how you pay for it and seems to have what I need, plus. Just want to know if it all works as well as they say. Also looking to create a few free backup accounts so I could use info on any companies similar to Proton Mail that offer a free basic account. I want to get away from all of my old email accounts where I am the product they sell. Plus I just got a new laptop and I want to keep the trash out of it while syncing selected files with my desktop that is getting old and starting to do odd things occasionally. This is a life and death situation so don't let me down Wiki-Beeb.
I’ve had their basic package for a few years. Does the job. I’m an extremely basic user of proton so I dunno how much usage experience would suffice. It’s never been down I tried to use it.
Grab a second gmail account and alias it. [email protected] and then alias it as [email protected]. All emails flow to myemail and you can tell which email was sold based on the alias added after the + sign. Change the alias each time to easily track the source of spam. I use this all the time.
Email from ProtonMail often gets flagged as spam/malware/phishing ... so if its important communications I would pick something else.
Speaking of Proton Mail - they are releasing a desktop app. If you are top-tier premium subscriber you can use the Beta now, but if not everyone else will get it early '24.
Dunno if it's work or personal for you but 10+ years, we've been really happy here; https://www.rackspace.com/applications/email-productivity https://www.rackspace.com/email-hosting/webmail/pricing
