The Guenther House does a nice breakfast/ brunch. The neighborhood is nice to stroll around after a big meal.
Local Mexican food is pretty good. Steaks as well. Boudros again. The roads N of SA have some great riding. My brothers and I were born at Wilford Hall, parents met at Lackland.
Can't help. Last time I was there was in '76.....The river walk was pretty new back then. Went there to do an experiment at South West Research Institute. Mocked up a complex piping system on an analog computer...very old school. Wires, resisters, capacitors on a peg board the size of a house.....Now, back to the original programing
Was there last year when they had the Riverwalk drained for cleaning and maintenance. That was pretty cool to see.
Had that place for the first time yesterday, it was terrible. In N Out is the way to go. Surely some of those in San Antonio
There's an In and Out about 8 miles from me. I went there for the first time a few weeks ago, got a double cheeseburger combo. It was excellent, but the burgers were much smaller than I anticipated. The whole place was spotless, everyone working there were polite and friendly. You can tell they take pride in their place. Freddy's Steakburgers are pretty good, so is P Terry's.
Schilos is a very old deli that make sthere own root beer. It right off the RWalk. Just south is King William, worht checking out some stuff around there. Blue Star has some cool art galleries and a brew pub and some random shops. La Tuna Icehouse for a cheap beer and a true local hangout. They have good food too if the restraunt is open. Go there in the evening if its nice out. The Friendly Spot is ok too. These are a typical local hangout if you want to get a true SA feel. Freetail Brewing makes great beer too and is more of a true restraunt. Burgerteca is good. Faust Tavern for a normal local beer joint. The Esquire has the longest wooden bar in TX. TacoLand has food now but it used to be the bar/live music venue that the Dead Milkmen wrote that song about.
Take a drive up to San Marcos and see Backbone’s new shop. Watch him work on suspension. If you seriously need work done talk to him.
Seen this one year myself. I believe I heard they do it the first week or two of January every year. Have to clean all of the waste from drunken Alamo Bowl fans, perhaps?
Oh yea, if you go to Bohanon's, to the left of the entrance is a little courtyard. The entrance steal lamps and several other metal lamp and sconces inside there were done by us at Metalmorphosis years ago. There are also several bridges with art and some randon steel sculpures downtown that we did too.
