I am the undisputed 2018 Vintage 6 Middleweight North Central Champion...a class of one, that no longer exists...but I'm the Champion.
I started on mini-bikes, like B&S/Tecumseh hardtail mini-bikes, late '60s-early '70s. Raced against myself. Finished with a GSX-R750,WERA endurance bike, '06. I would say that now I just play, but competition has not been ruled out for the future. In fact, a certain KLX110 will be debuting in PA this year to re-hone the second nature of riding. After that, who knows? Still waiting on the inauguration of WERA's Formula 60 class.
Started in '98 with CMRA/WERA, on a POS '93 EX500. '99 SV650 from '99 through '10. I probably rode 8-9 different SVs over that period, 4 of them mine. '88 Honda Hawk, part of the 2000 endurance season. Mini-Motarded DR-Z125. A few years in the mid-'00s. Damn, that thing was fun. Haven't been on a track since 2010, but just bought a 2001 SV650S, headed to NC Bike the end of the month.
2012 EX500 powered homebuilt racer for the 2014 season (MRA) - last entry in 2018. Won some titanium hardware in 2014! Totally New & Improved KTM 890 powered homebuilt racer in progress for the 2024 racing season. Or 2025? Or.... Shooting a lot of video for the club was a fun when I wasn't racing - hope to get back to that as well...
1971 Yamaha JT-1 60 Yamaha/Naguchi GT80 Yamaha/Naguchi YZ80 Yamaha/Naguchi 89 (began life as a 1974 MX100) 1975 Yamaha MX125C 2002 Honda RC51
grom was fun if you had someone of equal spec to race with. SV was overall the best, to learn and develop 1199 was brutal
Race is a pretty strong word for what I did with it. Just like Phil I never did get along with my European steed. I don't know if it was because I was brought up on a steady dirt of Japanese I4 or maybe the trellis chassis but me and that bike never did get along. Also the only bike I ever had in 20+ years that the motor popped on. YMMV.
Knackered EX500 1996 CCS 2001 WERA BMW R75 1997-1998 AHRMA 1998, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2008 WERA Honda CRF150F SEMRA/WERA 2006-2008 Aprilia 280 Climber STRA. I forget what years Borrowed Montesa 247 AHRMA. I forget what year
Try a V4 as in Aprilia....Made the street and track fun and 'new' again after having nothing but GSXR's from '92 to '22.
I'm part of that club. Raced my RD one time in 2016 against no competitors. I got a plaque from WERA in December to learn I came in 3rd place nationally for the year code lyoko wallpaper
Wasn't quite sure, so I went back and looked - Thanks WERA for keeping results up for so long! Took the Bargy school at Road Atlanta in July of 02. Raced the rest of the season on a GS500 - Clubman and V5 Bought an R6 to race meatgrinder, then a few weeks later got my bump letter. 03-04 got whopped by some really really fast dudes in C-Expert Had a baby, took some time off Came back in 2010 on an 08 Ninja 250 and won my first race. Little bikes were fun! Whats interesting looking back is how many rounds there were. Man those were good times...
