I had a 84 . What a friggin pig . Not to mention the shitty oiling system that caused flattened cams .
And ? It was a know problem back then which I was unaware of when I bought it. You not only had to replace the cams but also had to install external oiling tubes or modify the heads.
I rode one a few times. Huge in size, not all that fast, suspension (even in those days) was not great, overweight and if you wanted to race one, you HAD to buy a bunch of shit from HRC (if they’d even sell you the stuff). what was that shop that was known for building the 1000r into something useful? HRD? Can not remember.

I’ll try and remember more on that bike tonight. It was all weird and for some reason I want to say the plan was to run it at the 24 hour races. Edit: nope. the 24 hour bike was the gsxr750/1100 with giant Hella lights. Lol
After I found out what the ticking noise was, I was told about Dale. He was very helpful . He made the external oiling kit I talked about.

'06 GSXR 750 in 2015-2017 Then went expert and decided to celebrate with a '12 Panigale 1199 for a few years. Of the two, one was a fantastic race bike. The other was Italian. Got a few expert podiums on her and damn the Pani was pretty but that GSXR was all I ever needed looking back.
