The zipper failed according to S. Patterson's article: https://the-race.com/motogp/alpinestars-explains-extraordinary-quartararo-suit-failure/ Weird. Second time for Fabio. I don't remember Marquez ever having a problem with his suits and he's been testing them quite a bit in the last few years.
i thought he didn't....but last year didn't he toss his chest protector on track during the race when his zipper opened last year?
Catalunya race when it came unzipped, he just tossed it onto the live track. The problem with the chest protector type he (and most others) uses is it has no fixture -- if the zipper opens enough, it will get dragged out.
Not sure about A* but all my Dainese suits do: Fine teeth. I'll stick to Dainese. They fit really well too.
They used them on my road leather jacket and they suck. Everybody that has similar zippers had them fail.

Great for A*s to come forward like that. Probably a good lesson for folks that run the Tech-Air 5 or 10 to make sure there is enough room in the suit or jacket so that the air can move around a bit instead of busting a zipper or seam if there is an impact while you are already sliding.
That article is good. I forgot where I saw/read, but other suits have burst from airbag deployment. I assume it would be worse for tighter fitting suits with less room to expand.
