This is a push start machine, as all starter related parts have been stripped off in search of outright HP. Motor is extensively modified. This machine was DYNO tested, and that chart is available in photos: 127HP at 13.5K rpms.Penske shock. Professional racebike from the past. Runs/rides great. Asking $2500. Located in Central NY.

    127hp is very impressive for a 96.

    FCRs?
    Cams?
    2mm overbore?
    Stroker crank??

This needs to become a restomod Doug Chandler tribute. Would love to pull up to a track day on this!

    Hey Chad,
Well, I bought this from a Pro Formula Extreme racer at the time (2000'ish) He had the motor professionally built, and did not get into details. But, it was fresh when I purchased. I used it for several years, doing maybe 10 track days with it. I could never get a tachometer to give me a proper reading, so I brought it to my local Engine builder/Dyno guy. This guy has built many engines himself, and was very impressed by the HP this put out, and told me that this motor is extensively & professionally modified to get that. That bike stock was maybe 90HP at the crank. It has FCR's on it, and I've had those off, and could see ports are polished nicely. Appeared to have stock cams, as I had checked the clearances. I never rode a stock ZX-7 myself, but riding this one, I can say the power curve is delightful. Very smooth and linear power, very, very impressive.

These bikes (new) made 121HP stock, which put down about 108rwhp.

    What dyno was this?

Yeah 418 is right...these bikes were 121 hp stock, about 108 at the rear wheel.

    The 1989-1990 bikes were around 90HP...1992-92 J model 100HP...1991-92 K model close to 120HP...1993-95 around 120HP...1996-2003 121HP.

Regardless, I've always been a fan of these in race trim...I've got my 1992 zx7 project in the Vintage 7HWT thread.

Someone will be able to freshen this one up and enjoy it on track...Good luck with the sale!

    Regards,
    Chad
