I had a vid pop up in my YT page, causing me to once look again at the new tech that is already here and will be spreading soon. Thought I'd post a few links here to help others learn, and, hopefully, have the TV gurus here chime in with additional data. The hybrid OTA/Internet model is pretty cool. Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATSC_3.0 Helps you locate TV towers, so you know what direction to point your antenna: https://www.antennasdirect.com/transmitter-locator.html ATSC 3.0 FAQ: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-rm9yJwmifOh/learn/atsc-3-0-faq.html List of ATL TV stations: http://freeatltv.com/channels.html One example of an ATSC 3.0 tuner (2 of 4 channels); a guy I know via another forum is a tech guru there (or may own it outright): https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/product-category/hardware/?scrollto=663475 Anyone already deep into this? Let me here your thoughts.
I get why some would want to go wireless. I just spliced the antenna in my attic into the cable already in the house, then took that line and pushed into the inlet port of the manifold in the cable box, sending the antenna signal to all remaining cable outlets in the house.
ATSC 3 is on the air in a number of markets. Stations are very slowly starting to send ATSC 3 signals on a market by market basis. The standard has been around for 5 years or more, and set manufacturers have not been rushing to include ATSC 3 receive capability int he sets. Adoption will continue to be slow without a FCC (federal) mandate to change to ATSC 3. Without a FCC mandate, stations aren't going to rush and spend the substantial funds needed to switch to ATSC 3 without an audience of receivers already in place. Much like stere0 AM radio, and digital (HD) radio, it will falter without a requirement for all sets to be able to receive it.
