I think they're referring to the current ninja 400, the normal-person cheapo parallel twin. I'd expect this tuned up 4 cylinder 400 to make 56-65hp
It should make something around 2/3 of the power of a 600. It will rev higher so it could make 2/3 plus a smidge. So a race build of a modern 400cc should be in the 70-80hp range plus or minus I would think.
I'm more curious how much weight can be stripped off it, IIRC the 25R is a bit of a porker compared to a stripped FZR400?
I'll be surprised if they turn up the wick that much, maybe a zx4rr-r pirate edition with all the RRRRs

My 400 Bandit weighed about 370 and I took 15 pounds of street stuff off it so 355 fighting wt. with half a tank of fuel.

It has potential to be a weapon in the LWGP class. I'm curious what frame they're going to use - is it basically the ZX-25R chassis, or is it the ZX-6R chassis with a smaller motor?
From what I've read it's your first guess - the ZX25R but with the I-4 400cc engine. If so - it'll be way overweight and/or way overpriced.
Yeah, my guess is both sadly. I know you can trim quite a bit of weight off of a 400. Guess we’ll have to see. Not sure it’s gonna have enough grunt to take on an RS660 or 565 cheater.
