So you mean all it would take would be 1.75 million square miles of collectors and millions of miles of copper cable? Easy peasy. Oh wait...what about night time?

To consider spent fuel rods, or "nuclear waste" for those who want it to sound scary, while ignoring the waste created by supposed renewables is a bit silly. When you look at waste created per unit of power nuclear does not look so bad. Not to mention the nuke plant has a small footprint so it is not as much of an eyesore as the bird choppers or solar panels. But some think that covering 1/4 of the Sahara with solar panels would be a good idea. How much waste would be created and how big of an ecological mess would that create. Radiation can be shielded quite easily so I am not sure what the hand wringing about nuclear waste is all about. It really seems to be the best answer right now but many have a fear of radiation due to a lack of understanding.

Those that look for information about complex policy issues on youtube probably are not the most authoritative ones with whom to argue. :D

You do realize the current reactor design has very little in common with any of the incidents stated in that article? Especially Chernobyl. That was flawed ancient Russian tech...
I stand by my comment that most people have a fear of nuclear power due to a lack of understanding. Hell, even the French are not scared of nuclear power!:D
