    When I bought my '83 Interceptor 750 new, I was also considering a leftover Z1R with the Mr. Turbo treatment. I remember talking to the sales guy and he admitted they weren't very rideable and they had no warranty, so I went with the Honda. IIRC it was $3,500 new.

    Must have been a lot later. I think their first radials were Sportmax and were launched around 88 89 90?

    God thoe early Z1's were hairy! I was racing at Charlotte in 1976, and remember the z1's wobbling so bad on the bankings that you could see 'em wagging thier handlebars from the pits!

    Yeah, between the loose ball bearings in the headstock and the offset weight distribution, they could be a nightmare

    Yep, the head bearings were terrible, however a set of Timken tapered bearings fixed it right up. Had the S&W shocks and the Kerker full system on mine as well. One of the bike mags had an article detailing how to upgrade the Z1, which I was most of the way through.
