Garry McCoy... Off-topic, but I remember one race (in France I believe) where he seemed to be defying physics in one particular corner. I watched it over and over (VCR tape back in those days) and it was a head-scratcher. The camera was a front-view of a big left turn. He would come to the corner and the bike would drift from the left to the right with no (apparent) big inputs from him, just an amazing controlled slide.
This. Especially on a 500 2 stroke. He was dancing on a very narrow line between lowside and highside.
Tire smoking fool for sure. Heh, all snarkiness aside it's amazing to me that aside from all the riding talent few of us appreciate how multi-lingual many of these top racers are. I don't know if Vale is conversant in French but it wouldn't surprise me.
In the immortal words of a country music and rodeo legend, Mr Chris Ledoux: “When you ride your last one Make sure he's the best one Jump while he's movin' Tip your hat boys and walk away”
He's not. Two guys are, among the starters on the MotoGP grid tomorrow: Oliveira and Pedrosa. Actually, let me amend that: among the guys who have scored points in MotoGP on a regular basis and get interviewed on French TV. I would have no way to know if Savadori or Lecuona speak any French.
For a rider to stay at the level of racing he has for so many years while others have come and gone is an achievement. Maybe him and Colin can put together a Suzuka team sometime for the heck of it. WLF
