I've used Progressive to put comprehensive on a track bike not titled in my name that covered theft/natural disasters/etc but not riding/crashing.

As long as you have possession of them... being in your name is not mission critical. The alternative is getting a bonded title... about $350 in legal work.

They won't pay you, it needs to be titled in your name.

So they took my money for nothing? Not surprised. I don't have the bike anymore so a non issue now at least.

Yep. They will take your money of you want to give it to them. But they won't payout if the bike is not in your name.

I could pay for insurance on every bike on the forum, but they ain't paying me jack diddly if y'all wreck one of those bikes

I have quite a few non-street bikes insured via a collection policy through my insurance company. It's basically built for collectibles but is all based on agreed value.
