Should be competitive in MW as well...supersport or superbike. Nice build! Can we see the front view?
It’s legal for all leightweight classes in ccsand wera. Also thunder bike in ASRA. Not sure about other organizations.
No its not. CCS is the only club it's legal for in Lightweight. Everywhere else in the entire world that's a middleweight machine. " LIGHTWEIGHT TWINS SUPERBIKE EXPERT & NOVICE and LIGHTWEIGHT TWINS SUPERSTOCK EXPERT & NOVICE Up to 700cc water-cooled twins with more than 3 valves "
I stand corrected! He is right about WERA and who knows about everywhere else in the world. Lol. Anyways it’s allowed in all lightweight classes in CCS as well as CCS/ASRA Thunderbike. I apologize if I hurt anybody’s feelings for the mistake. I only run CCS and Wera occasionally.
It was legal in the CMRA until someone came out on one and smoked the incumbent Lightweight champ still riding the old guard bikes and harshed their mellow, so it was banned... I foresee a similar fate for the Ape RS 660 in 2022...
One bike is 800cc twin other is a 660cc twin... One makes 100hp stock, the other makes 85hp stock. (to the wheel). One is the size of a middleweight twins, other is the size of a lightweight twin No one is banning the RS660 from lightweight class, it's the right size.
That’s of course all true. But the reasons given for the Duke 790 being banned was not only displacement but it’s a technology and electronics package. As the Aprilia RS660 will have similar levels of technology, and be light years ahead of the SV 650 and Fz07, I suspect it will be under scrutiny this year at our club racing.
A manufacturer shouldn’t be punished for making a superior product under a given set of rules. Especially when they are helping support the sport via contingency.
