Gentlemen at work has an 87 chevy 4x4. Wants to swamp his frame due to it has bad spots in it. What years will work and if he found a 2wd is the only difference spring hangers and front axle?
Probably like 81-87. Four wheeler drive only. Two wheel is totally different. Possibly could go as far back as 73 and make it work. They weren’t metric though and some of the fasteners are different. May not matter at all.
81-87. He can use a 73-80 but will have to cut a small part of the front of the frames down to clear the different front end bodywork [that looks almost identical, I don't get it]
Not 100% but I think so. I've read about people converting 4wd blazers to 2wd since they made like 95% of them in 4wd.
I just gave away a 86 longbed frame. Zero rust or damage. I tried for months to sell the remnants of a donor truck and had no takers. Heres my 86 K30. 28k original miles, manual trans.
I'm 90% sure the 2wd and 4 wd will NOT interchange. The 2x had control arm and coils in the front. Car-part is a great way to find one. can be done but it's a lot of work https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/1974-2wd-crew-to-4x4.21778/
Yeah that was my wifes 2012 G37. My 19yr old daughter decided to play bumper tag with it right before she left for the AirForce. Needs a drivers headlight and a little bodywork to the front facade and fender. Since my wife hasn't driven it in about 2 years I thought about taking it over and doing some light mods, springs, sway bars, intake and cat back system. It's a great sporty driving car, quick but not outrageous.
