Last phone I bought was in 2003. Since then it’s just been our IT guy handing me a new one every couple years. I can’t believe how expensive those stupid things are. If I had to go it alone I’d get whatever was the cheapest damn phone available.
Got me a new 2020 MotoG Power recently for $230. It's got 4 cameras and the battery lasts 5+ days. I prefer to burn my excess cash buying more motorcycles (like the 2 that got delivered yesterday...)
I've never understood the griping about the rising prices of these phones. Cell phone have ALWAYS been expensive, but with the shift away from subsidized prices that build them into carrier contracts, it is just more noticeable. Premium products in cellular have always commanded a premium price. Regarding the "expensive" aspect, while I agree that it is a hard pill to swallow but in the late 90's and 2000's there was nothing preventing people from upgrading their laptops every couple years for $1K+ a pop. For a device that versatile and that powerful (the new processor specs on the iPhone 12 are pretty phenomenal) that is literally with you every hour of every day and is the most versatile piece of technology available to you, it doesn't really seem all that unreasonable. There are "budget" options out there for those that want it..........so what's the problem?
I'm waiting for the foldable smart phones to get through their initial couple of versions and going that direction. Iphones have gotten too bulky to carry in my pocket anymore. I love the looks of the new Samsung Galaxy Z flip
I guess I don't see the reason for so much churn. Most users don't do much except yap on social media or browse the internet, play music, and take some photos. not much power is necessary for those functions. also, cell service is super expensive here in the US, and the not having subsidized phone hasn't really reduced the costs of plans. All it did was get rid of the 2 year lockdown, but if you finance the phone...hello 2-year contract. So the carriers are getting their contract and expensive plans
Dude there’s a new Razr! I remember wanting one of the originals when it came out more than I wanted a iPhone when those came out. The combination of slim design and metal case made it seem like less of a toy and more like a piece of hardware. https://www.motorola.com/us/smartph...JYoA75hKB6ceSx8z5LxoC16oQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I was happy with my 10 but the battery went to shit. It wouldn’t charge at all. If I put it on the charger, it would maintain whatever charge it was at, but wouldn’t build. Luckily I caught it at 2% and did a backup before it went to shit. So I went to get a new phone, and ended up getting the wife one also, plus us both new watches (we had the 5’s). The thing is, I like to get new phones, but then I don’t do any new shit with them. I use them for texting, email/internet, pictures, calendar, and an alarm. I don’t do anything with the 11 that a 2 won’t do.
I get a new work phone every 24 months, and I am allowed to keep the old one. So' i just recycle that into my personal phone. I just got an 11 in may and made the old phone i had my personal (iphone x maybe?) So i usually have a 3-4 year old phone and a 1-2 year old iphone on me at all times. Guess what? They're all still the same as the iphone 6 pretty much. lol Has been nice not having to buy one of these things since 2011 though.
The funniest part of all of this is that the majority of people that "need" this phone because the new processor is super fast will just use it to surf porn, check email, and watch tik tok videos.
Right now they don't hold up in any weather....... It's gonna be a while before these foldable phones become the norm...........the technology just isn't there yet to produce a screen that can hold up to that much use.
So what you're saying is that not only are people going to be upside down on car loans, they will now be upside down on their phone loans just to browse Facebook faster while swerving all over the road?
