02 R6. I am replacing the yokes and have them off the bike. The manual says to get that collar off the lower clamp, you need a couple of screw drivers or a bearing puller. I have a new collar on order, but to intstall it, can I just bang it onto the triple with a piece of pipe or around it with a hammer? I have never seen one off and dont know if the stem screws into the lower clamp and then you bang the collar over it. If I dont seat that ring correctly will it fall off and I'll die in a fiery crash?

Yes you will.;) Cool the stem ( 2 hours in the freezer) heat the race ( not in the microwave) slip them together and TAP lightly with a brass rod. Check head torque after your first short ride and have fun.
