Yep you bet I want to know what's required to pass the course. What good student wouldn't? That's what the silly-bus is for. :Poke:

Short of that, do you really think I love sitting through entire lectures on the menstral cycle or ecology and studying for absurd amounts of time? Not really, but I do like the idea of eventually seeing an MD behind my name, cutting people up and playing with their stuff. :D Hell, I might even help a few people out with their health.

Now you tell me, how many of your heroes didn't truly love what they did for a living?

Of course you find some lectures boring...but you probably "love"
being in med school, despite the way you describe it... and one would trust that you will, as a doctor, carefully analyze the
conditions of your patients..the obvious thing for you is not if you have the right stuff but how you'll use it...
    Best Wishes to All,
    Charles

  4. I agree with Chameleon - you need to get out more.

In the great state of North Carolina, nearly half of the registered voters (48%) declare themselves Democrats, yet the state is considered to be fairly conservative. We always vote Republican in presidential elections; we've had at least one Republican senator in Washington ever since Jesse switched from Democrat to Republican, etc. Right now there's a ballot proposal for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a "union between a man and a woman." The proposal is bi-partisan. In poll after poll, the bulk of registered Democrats in NC say they don't agree with the positions taken by the state and national Democrat parties.

    So:

    1. Just because you don't know many "conservative" Democrats doesn't mean there aren't any, and

    2. Just because someone is a registered Democrat doesn't mean they are a "liberal."

Also, Chameleon is correct about the US Democrats looking conservative compared to parties in other countries. In Germany the mainstream right-wing party is the Christian Democrat Union (CDU). They are fairly equal in conservatism with the US Democrat party. The CDU is considered to be "ultra-conservative" by European standards.

Just where the hell are all the democrats in the schools?

I recently finished an MBA in Finance, and I would say the democratic population is THIN in the capitalistic biased majors.

To boot, our guest speaker at graduation was a former President of MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!! He is an alumnus.

The great beauty of this irony is that I went to Golden Gate University, which is in SAN FRANCISCO.

I get the general impression business and engineering attract more conservatives, and the liberal ranks fill the social sciences and art, because quite simply these folks are dependent upon the goodness of socialism to fund their existence.

Oh, here is a funny story about democrats in school.

This was in one of my management courses.

We were presented a business case where it was a big data processing sweat house. It was a big warehouse setting with hundreds of women each to their own desk crunching invoices (they were an outsource contract for Accounts Payable for large companies). They were not allowed to talk to each other or have music or food or drinks at their desks, and were watched like hawks by their superiors.

The problem was that productivity was dramatically decreasing and absenteeism was rising.

Anyway, that was the gist of the case. The class then discussed possible solutions for the decrease in productivity.

To my bloody amazement the vast majority of those democratic/liberal students wanted more controls on the people and harsher limits to break times and greater enforcement of absenteeism rules.

Then the less conservative folks were more interested in improving moral, allowing for drinks at desks, and talking and such.

    I was blown away.

    As I've written all along...

"SCRATCH A SOCIALIST, FIND A POLICEMAN."

Speaking of which, have any of you heard about the situation regarding Ted Kenedy and his bodyguard up on the Hill, this happened many years ago...???

Ya know, I haven't really thought about asking this before, but looking at some of the posts, it might be more relevant than anyone realizes.

What exactly do IYC and Greenie have their degrees in and what sort of town was their college in?

My guess is that they both have some sort of humanities degree (ie social sciences, history, english, etc). And another shot in the dark is that they either 1.) went to a college in the north or 2.) went to a college in a fairly large city. Anyone want to start another really useful and more-truthful-than-the-real-world poll to find out? :Poke:

What do you find when you scratch a policeman?

    And no, what?

I suppose if you scratch a policeman, you'll find a socialist... well,
maybe not. In any case, years ago, and I mean years ago, T. Kennedy's bodyguard, or should I say one of the many, was
stopped and arrested up on the Hill, because he was seen with a gun (one of the several he had on him that day). It was a clear violation of the law in Wash, D.C. So, what does Kennedy do? Why, he immediately attempts to bribe and threaten the police to drop the charges and give the guns back to his bodyguard. You see, Kennedy doesn't want us poor slobs carrying weapons, only his bodyguards (to include full auto weapons like his bodyguard had on him when he was arrested)!
