But, but, but this is how capitalism is designed to work. Those who put themselves in a position to amass wealth and keep it are the ones who win. If I am not mistaken you are collecting Social Security correct? You do not support the shutdown but why are you not leading on this front? Instead you are a sly old socialist advocating redistributing wealth.

Nothing political or religious in my statement any more than stating the sky is blue. If I sinned, it was engaging with someone who made a politically leaning statement.

According to the radiddlio this morning, if the 160ish deaths in MN, 117 of them have been in convalescent care centers.

<50 deaths outside extended care facilities has destroyed the MN economy.

Political parties. You bet. Sheep who refuse to think for themselves and just swallow what ever they are fed. You bet. Individuals...not so much.

My crystal ball says that very shortly Democrat governors and mayors will be bitching revenue is down and they gotta either raise taxes or lay of cops and firefighters. BTW never do they threaten to lay of the assistant revenue enhancement officer.......actually not my crystal ball. These assclowns never let a crises go to waste. I know their playbook.

I live in Cincinnati but work in KY. Our company has been mostly working from home since the 13th of March. There are a few guys in the shop rebuilding customer equipment and maintaining test equipment and shipping parts out but out of 85 people, at least 60 are working remote. Communication from the boss has been good. The plans were laid out by the CEO/VP here and senior management in Germany early on and adapted weekly based on news and govt recommendations. As of today this is our directive:

    Dear Colleagues:

Just to follow-up with a quick update regarding company business plans and travel.

    1. We will continue the work-from-home provision through May 4th. I will give you an update next Thursday (April 30) if we are going to extend this any further.

    2. The Field Service Technicians and Process Technicians are currently travelling to some “essential” industry customers by car. The plan is to continue this through next Friday May 1, with the hope of opening up air travel by Monday May 4. When we begin air travel, we will most likely continue to temporarily suspend travel to any remaining “hot spots”. Management will determine with your Group Leader what those spots will be. I am hopeful that all restrictions will be lifted by May 15th.

    3. The Sales staff will be allowed to travel by car to customers starting on May 4th with the hope of opening up necessary air travel by May 15th. Please adhere to all the rules noted in previous Emails.

    Thank you.

  19. For the record, I agree with the point you are getting at. I have stated numerous times that shutting down the whole world and ruining the economy was not the way to go. I especially don't like how they made nation, and/or state-wide decisions, when there is a huge difference between New York, Memphis, Atlanta, etc...and smaller towns with drastically less population. They applied a "one size fits all" approach and unnecessarily put millions of people out of work. Like I said before, there were only 5 cases in the whole Tri-City area (over 500k people) when the shut everything down. Stupid.

But with that being said, in fairness, it is easy to look back on the data after it has been gathered and second guess decisions. Now that we know what has/is happening, it is easy to say what should have been done in the beginning.

But in the beginning, before the US really did anything, this shit was causing havoc in other countries, with places like Italy piling bodies up in storage and shit. So at the time they made those decisions, they had no data, and were dealing with a "what if....." scenario. They just didn't know anything about the virus, what would happen, how many it could kill, etc.

It is easy to look back now and say "that was stupid". But I have to think the public will/would be more forgiving with going too far, rather than if they hadn't done anything and we actually did end up with hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dead bodies everywhere. Can you imagine the uproar then? Some people constantly bitch that enough wasn't done, or it wasn't done soon enough. Just imagine if nothing had been done.

After the game is over, it is easy to look back and say what coach should have done on 4th and goal.
