I love documentaries. With my weekends being pretty opened up i have time for more of them. I like anything from racing, to astronomy, biology, geology, technology, war, theology, aerospace, world history, etc. I like these types of films more than regular consumer films. I'm open to pretty much anything, as long as I can learn about something. I love learning. so like... not the Tiger King. Thanks!
You didn't mention music, but Country Music by Ken Burns was the last documentary I've seen, and it was very good. He's done many war ones, and the cancer was one was excellent too.
+1 to @Yzasserina, all Ken Burns documentaries are epic. Have yet to see the country music one. The Fog of War Dust to Glory Happy People: a Year in the Taiga Faster The Long Way Round The Long Way Down Long Strange Trip The Other One Those are what come immediately to mind.
It's not a documentary but I've started to rewatch the Band of Brothers that I have on DVD. While I know the story line, I've forgotten many of the details.
the eagles documentary tells a lot about the band that you never knew. starting with Linda Ronstadt, the inner power struggles, ect... very interesting. Ski
Stumbled across "Steve McQueen: The Man and LeMans" on Amazon Prime. Lots of interesting stuff about the making of the movie.
The Racing Scene - very cool old school documentary about James Garner and his Formula race season team from ‘71. ( Garner does the narration on it.) Winning : the Racing life of Paul Newman The Boys of Bonneville - super cool about the family that started it all at the Salt Flats. The Bonneville Project - low budget documentary on Motorcycle Performance in Wisconsin’s Bonneville efforts, but it’s people many of us know so still pretty cool. Out of Nothing - another Bonneville Documentary. Also pretty cool.
Happy people was very cool. And winning the Paul Newnan racing one was awesome if you're a mid Atlantic guy. Those old Datsuns were killer. And tons of great footage from mid Atlantic tracks. There's one called last man on the Moon that's really good too. Exit from the giftshop if you like art. It goes places. Beware Mr Baker is really amazing. And there's one called fela about fela kuti that crosses over a bit. If you're into music. I recently saw All things must end, I think about tower records. If that's your generation its pretty cool. Tower was my generation and it's a pretty amazing story.
I second this. Really entertaining and informative for a casual fan of the band. I may watch it again.
The movie BLOW is a pretty good almost true story. Recently watched the Bob Probert story on Amazon that was also good.
