Please Rotax produce this engine with a motorcycle gear box integrated! https://www.rotax.com/en/products/rotax-powertrains/details/rotax-850-e-tec.html Please bring back the two stroke! These emission choked 4 strokes are killing me!! Thoughts? Am I missing a brand out there that already has a clean two stroke?
I’d hazard a guess that KTM would be the first to bring a two-stroke street bike to market with the TPI (Transfer Port Injection) engine used in their off-road bikes. They appear to run scary lean as guys are going over 100 hours on the original plug.
Rotax parent company isn’t doing so hot these days. They are bleeding money. Just sold their stake in commercial airliners to air bus, and are looking to sell their rail divisions to a French company. They just shut a rail car plant in Thunder Bay. They had to have a $200+ million influx of cash from the Canadian government. Hope that doesn’t effect Rotax.
They are different companies. BRP is Skidoo. Bombardier is trains and planes. Split apart quite a few years ago.
F bikes. I want to put that in my standup jetski. The current 760cc 2 cylinder 2 stroke only makes like 100-110hp.
Problem is, that's a 5,000 mile motor if your'e lucky. It has sealed crank bearings, packed with grease, much like wheel bearings. And it's not like they're easily serviced. maybe they could oil bath it if they made a bike version...
I just got back from four days of snowobiling in Maine. My sled has one of the new 850 e-tech engines. The thing is a fucking hoot, Pretty sure they did away with that set up. I think the new 850 e-tech uses oil in the crank bearings now.
Check out the Arctic Cat blast motor too. That would be asweet little road race package in an rs125 roller.
If only some Genius engineer would have thought to put a bad ass 2T snowmobile engine in a motorcycle...just think of the possibilities......... I'd better patent idea that, just to you know, hold it for someone else.
