Got it. Curious where your car service is located?

I've known of a few folks that swear by the Genesis sedans.

The new GV80 is looking fantastic.

Started with a 1985 Benz 300TD then added 300D sedans and 300SDL's. Figured they were costing too much in maintenance and switched to Town Cars in and around 1997/98.
Town Cars were simple, efficient and easy to work on.
    I've also run 3 or 4 LS430'S (ultimates)
Added Hyundai Equus' in 2014 and I've had 6 or 7 of those.
Had a couple of Lincoln MKT's, they were decent.

    Currently have a Ford E250 custom van, 2014 & 2016 Equus, 2017 G90 , 2015 & 2018 Navigator L's and the Continental disappears today.
I was running 13 cars at one point.

One of the Equus' is nearing 375k Miles and time to retire it. The
E250 is ready to go too. Has about 160k miles.

When you go to sell your miled up cars, what do you do with them?

I was talking to a guy out of NYC who used to run nothing but the old towncar and versions of the Tahoe. He's running a bunch of 7 series, escaldes and is trying out an A8 and a MB S Class.
His clients are ballers and stupid levels of money.

I used to donate the retired cars to https://my.neighbor.org/

Biggest car service in San Diego was running about 20 X 7 series, they got rid of them after a year and switched to Caddy XTS's.
    NYC is a different animal/market, I couldn't afford to run an A8 or S550.

Brother had his G8 bought back. Thing had a wicked shimmy at speed and no matter what they did it would not go away. New tires, wheels, suspension.... still death wobbled. Lucky for him at speed was mostly above normal driving so he had a free ride for a couple years.

A friend high up in Dodge a while back loves telling his Viper story. Thing would rattle like no other and despite all cost to repair it it never went away. They bough it back and took it in house to take apart piece by piece. In the end - Coke can in the inner fender wall. Vipers were hand built and each item signed off on so it was easy to track who the Coke can belonged to.

do you do mostly airport runs or what type of business keeps you most busy? is Uber and Lyft hurting you?

i used Uber one night after the horse races at Del Mar, needed to be an XL for 6 people, and it ended up being a car service, a big escalade, and the driver said uber paid as well as his service does for the trip due to it being a friday night/peak time or whatever its called. Del Mar to San Marcos (north county)

its not great, ill admit it. but i only deal with it one way, because i start work early. drive home, it blows. but after a couple years you just get used to it.

    90% airport transfers to SAN/LAX.

Most car service/limos will add their driver's to Uber/Lyft so they can pickup extra business during downtime or slow periods. Dru ers are paid hourly by their company and then recei tips from Uber passengers.
I priced out an SUV with Uber, La Jolla to LAX and rate was $685 before tip :/. I raised my rates immediately.

Can you come out here and teach the guys with the LM plates to stay to the right if they're going to go exactly the speed limit? I swear they must have to pledge to stay in the left or HOV lane at all times.

Sorry to hear about the Lincoln. It's a damn good looking car.

For the money, the Genesis G90 kills the Continental.

LM driver's can't afford speeding tickets.
I bet their clients would chew em out for driving in the slow lane.

If you ever want a nice lease trade in Lincoln with low miles my mother gets a new one every 24 months since 1986.

Always way under on miles and never a scratch on them.

Her dad retired from the factory so she is loyal to the brand.

I'm loving their Aviator. Jazzed up Exploder but for some reason, that's the car that might make me give up on Mazda and <gasp> VW/ Audi.
