Dude always seemed to have a smile on his face. Him running for Richard Petty put together to iconic racing families. RIP racer
Dude definitely strapped into some really cool rides: Indy cars, IMSA GT sports cars, NASCAR, and even a few rounds in an NHRA Top Fuel car. I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if he enjoyed a motorcycle or two. RIP racer.
Rip John, definitely the nicest Andretti, he was much more approachable than Marco and Michael. He beat colon cancer twice. He raised millions of dollars for Riley Children's Hospital, and would just show up to talk to the kids and their families...he didn't care if there weren't cameras around, not his style.
A local news report yesterday said that John made this comment to quite a few people, he said even though I've won races in many types of cars, IndyCar and for The King Richard Petty in Nascar, his favorite race was a 2 hour go kart race he organized for Riley Children's Hospital. I've raced in one of those events with him, but I only saw him on track for just one corner....then he was gone. A lot of racers would show up for that race....Tony Stewart, Ricky Rudd, 10-12 IndyCar drivers, a few years had Dan Weldon and Scott Dixon in their matching Target race suits.
