Spartan leathers standard armor has a CE back/spine pad. Do I still need to wear an articulated protector in Sportsman-Vintage? 1966 Duc. It is required that riders wear back protectors under their leather racing gear unless their racing gear is equipped with a back protector.

I’d ditch the integrated pad and do a separate back protector with chest protector. Personally, I think the wearable armor is going to provide better protection, because it’s attached to you as opposed to the garment.

I would upgrade.! Always race or ride with the best safety equipment you can afford.

I get the protective armor on both sides of the fence. I was asking if a separate articulated spine pad was absolutely required by the rulebook line I quoted in the original post. Spartan claims there standard back armor is CE certified.

Chest protectors are not required but highly recommended too.
