Craps and Blackjack are the only ones you even have a chance.

I don't really play any longer...let's keep it at that.

In craps you can play “with” the house.

No! No! No, large yellow bird! The beeb will not allow you to just, "keep it at that". Spill it! :Poke:

lol...it's just that I do now realize I have an addictive personality, so I spent a lot of time in the casinos. I have to be "in it to win it." The highest of high rarely, but lowest of lows many times. As a gambler, it sometimes felt better to lose than win.

And now, do I want to "give away" my money to something that is already stacked against me. So for me it's not really entertainment.

I did learn from my lil bro though, he will take a set amount of $$ and that's it. So every football season I take out a set amount and I'll play on Draftkings (not that stupid lineup stiff, but the sportsbooks one) and if I win, I take out the money I put in and just play with the earnings. At least I feel I have a better chance.

At the end, the house always wins, and you just don't want to lose yourself in that process.

That's how it's done. Now git back to that bathroom project. That house will always win.

When you walk to the table if you see a ~4" plastic disc that says ON, and money everywhere on the table you wait. That means a 'point' is ON. Wait for them to make the point or crap out. then the disk changes to OFF.
Place your bet on the pass line.
The shooter rolls the dice. If its a 7 or 11 you mean even money on your pass line bet. If its 2, 3, 12 you lose that bet. Any other number sets the 'point'. Now you place your "odds" behind the original pass line bet. Most casinos allow 3x-4x-5x to be placed as odds. EX. you bet $10 on the line. The shooter rolls an 11. the dealer places $10 next you your chips. (note. wait until they are done paying people to take this money). The shooter gets the dice back and rolls a 6. Now 6 is the point. If you can do 3x odds place $30 behind the $10 bet on the line.
You are betting he will roll a 6 before a 7. Numbers 2, 3 or 12 dont cause you to loose this money, only 7. If he rolls a 6 they stack $10 next to your original bet and $35 next to your odds bet. The kicker is the odds money has no house edge..they pay off according to the actual chance to roll the given point number. (6 or 8 is 6:5, 5 or 9 is 3:2 and 4 or 10 is 2:1). You pick up the money and the process starts again.

The house edge on the pass line bet is about 1.5%. As you back it with odds the advantage drops. At 3X odds the house edge is ~.5%.

Overall playing craps with 4x or 5x odds is about the most even money bet you can make. Problem is a $10 table means you can bet 40, 50 or 60 per roll. It only takes a few bad rolls in a row to kill you. And it only takes a fe good rolls in a row to be up $500.

    Hence the fun....:D

edit: watch some YT videos or play some online craps to see how it goes.

If you're staying at a casino talk to them and see if they have any instructional stuff going on. Most do in the mornings. Even if they don't they're always willing to teach you as they go along when it's slow.

i went to a casino in Milwaukee once. with 2 colleagues, one is a hardcore Black Jack gambler.

i knew the basics, but was clueless. wanted to play for $60 which i knew i was gonna lose. those were $20 bets so i upped my game to play with $400.
asked for instructions along the way but the casino was pretty accommodating. ended up losing down to $40. gambled my way back up to $460 and quit.

it was neither a lot of fun, nor entertaining, despite "winning"

i was more shocked by the seriousness the people in there were burning their money and not even having a smile on their face.

Even if you count perfectly and bet perfectly its not a guarenteed win. If you are serious about counting cards you should have at minimum 500 x minimum bet bank roll. (I.e. $5 table; $2500 bank roll)

I counted cards in college on a shoe string budget and the concept/basics are easy but doing it well and not being blantantly obvious takes a ton of practice. Dealer blackjacks are the biggest killer to slower players as its the easiest way to lose the count.

Roulette is my favorite. Not that electronic rigged BS but the real one where a human throws the ball. Craps looks exciting but I'm not big enough into gambling to become an expert on it.

That's a perfect description of my Blackjack experiences. Just stone assed humans waiting for the next card to flip...no joy at all. Last time I played the guy next to me was bitching that I either took his card or didn't take a hit which screwed him up. Since it was illegal for me to smash his face I just walked away and said never again. Craps is the equivalent of a toga party. The most fun you can have gambling short of a box at the Kentucky Derby. I like to go where the fun is.

Huh, normally blackjack is a very social thing when I've played. Everyone having fun trying to beat the dealer - even the dealer. Granted it may be different at the cheap tables I go to :D

I was eighteen, or so, and watching a game of 3 card Monte (????) while out on my lunch break. When I was a non playing observer, I could easily identify The Card but when I became a playing member, I lost $40! I believe that was the best money that I ever lost. Since then I have zero desire to gamble.

How do you count when it's a 7 deck shoot?

I'm not a casino person at all, but when I was in Vegas I wanted to try some blackjack and I ran into that same situation where it was just lifeless zombie people tapping the table for cards. No talking, no emotion, just robotic card playing, it was sad.

I was told that the best games to play to make money (or lose it slower) are video poker, video blackjack, and video keno. I can't play poker and I'm not a fan of Keno, but I lost money at a slow rate playing video poker. If you sit at the bar and play the $1 machines (after putting in at least $20 or more) drinks are free. If you put in $1 and ask for a drink, you have to pay for the drink. A good tip will get you great service at the bar.

Video poker can definitely go slow but I always get into a rhythm and it puts me to sleep. I do it when I'm more interested in drinking than playing so it's always at a bar :D

does not matter how many decks are used. The procedure is the same. Chances of getting a favorable count are way better with more decks. I try to play an 8 deck shoe at a $10 table. When count is good in my favor I will bet up to $150 per hand. The dealers know I am counting, they just dont care as long as you tip well.

for the video games i've found out that if you don't use a loyalty card it's better since they can't tell if you're up or down.

Also, don't expect to play at the same machine long. It will usually gift you a win in the first few hands of a deposit. They try to entice you to stay by giving you the win early, so you can try to win again at the "hot" machine. After that "win", then move to another machine. Just my experience. You won't become rich, but you have a better chance of getting ahead.
