Normally I would say no connection but when someone who testified gets shot, IN THE MOUTH, it sure looks like a message being sent.
Damn. Do you think it was Dallas PD? Was there something this guy said that was particularly damning? It seems like the woman's own testimony was more than enough to convict her.
It is a meaningful thing if the book is not fiction in their mind. However, if it is fiction to the person, its actually a kind of weird ritual and about as meaningful as a pinkie swear.
