    I think he’s more the Disturbed/Metallica post-And Justice crowd.

Tool’s got some really good stuff. I don’t get the people that WORSHIP them (and neither does the band) though.

Opiate was their best work by a long shot. I enjoyed several songs on Undertow but everything after that kinda sounds the same to me.

I think this is their best work. 7empest is their best track.

I've listened to it about 5 times. I started off ambivalent, then thought it was a clone of their earlier work. It's gotten better each time.

I think higher end audio reveals more meaningful detail here than their previous work, too.

If you can't differentiate between 9/8 and 3/4 time, TOOL isn't going to be that mind-blowing to you. The band is a lot more interesting if you have at least a surface understanding of how the sausage is being made. They've gone a little off the deep end trying to pull off complexity for complexity's sake.... but from a technical standpoint the band is an airtight collection of intriguing musicians all trying to attain perfection in a form that doesn't have perfection. I can respect that.

So, poncy prog-rockers with delusions of jazz. Just as I suspected. :)

Not to mention its LITERALLY on every streaming service too.

I think 7empst is my fav too, and as a drummer I love Chocolate Chip :D

so, presale was sold not at least a week before the release date. now its vaporware. unless you want to drop upwards of $150 on it from a scalper online. as for streaming services, i prefer to get something tangible for my money, thus the comment about a ACTUAL copy. i'm old, what can i say?

    bored&stroked Disclaimer: Can't spell

From what I've heard so far, its rambling music and boring. Last album was the same way. They seem to have lost their way.

  20. Steeltoe

    Steeltoe What's my move?

Tool has 5 good songs and no great albums. But those 5 songs are good imo.
