A guy on a Triumph Owners Group Facebook page has a deposit down, and he's been told to expect a $17k price in America. So, there's that.
I heard that there will be two versions. A high spec one and "standard" spec. In the neighborhood of a $10k price difference between the two.
A lot of the stuff I'm hearing is actually coming from my own head. It's just about as credible as most of these other "sources"
Sail-sports.com Triumph is using a boat motor in this bike to be innovative. Plus you can use the prop to chew up other bikers a la "Road Rash"
The return on investment for selling at most a couple hundred bikes just isn't there for the OEM's to make a track specific bike... and a small bike with a great frame, USD forks, and good suspension is gonna cost $8k... and then you can just buy a 600... It's not the engine that makes it expensive.
https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/triumph-daytona-moto2-765-limited-edition-unveiled/ So in a nut shell, its a Street Triple 765RS with Daytona 675R forks, shock and bodywork. What's disappointing is that it makes the same peak horsepower as the Daytona 675R at nearly the same RPM and 4 more peak torque at 2k rpm earlier than the 675R.
My gut tells me they significantly underrated that motor but it just makes no sense why they wouldnt say what the motor really makes. I bet it is at least 130 to the wheel
In a nutshell, no it isn’t. It is a completely new/different motor based on the Moto2 motor. The Street Triple has is designed for maximum low/midrange torque.
