Just listened to an interview that, while not diminishing the significance of the events, pretty much called BS an many of the long term impacts. As is common, the makers took more than a little artistic license.
I don’t get it. That looks like a helicopter landing on an oil rig (a small one, called a “Jack Up”). But I don’t get the reference or relevance.
Dyatlov said it when they reported the radiation readings. Problem was, the dosimeters only registered up to 3.6 roentgen... the actual reading was way higher.
Damn sure looks like a JackUp (a rig that doesn’t float on top of the water, it has legs that stand on the ocean floor). That looks like the drill floor and Derrick, with the V-door going down from there, then the helipad up on the Bow (with the helicopter about to land). But I am on my phone and didn’t zoom in. So it could just look like that, but be something else.
didn't see this posted here. netflix - building chernobyl's mega tomb. the russian's hastily built a crappy steel & concrete cover over the reactor to seal the dust and what not, surprise surprise it started falling down. this show covers the fix started in the late 2000's. pretty neat. https://www.netflix.com/title/81121173
Funny this thread popped up. I'm wearing my new "not great, not terrible" shirt to the dentist this morning.
