I think the last time I flew, RDU had the baggage claim area OUTDOORS.

Don't ever go to Heathrow or Gatwick then.

Currently based there. It's like going to hell every time you go to work. With the construction, you can no longer walk from the Delta terminal to the "B" terminal. Waited 2 hours for a purple route bus just to leave the airport. 2 Hours, to get out of that bubbling shit pile. Watched Chuck Schumer walk right out of the terminal and get whisked into his waiting car. Meanwhile the peons stand slack jawed waiting for a ride on a snot encrusted jalopy bus.

The facilities are shit, the layout is shit, but the people make it special.. Nukes may be the answer. There needs to be a waiting period approaching a thousand years to make sure another LGA isn't built.

I love me an airport with no jetways and outdoor baggage carousels. Reminds me of Bob Hope (BUR).

(Now back to your regularly scheduled bitchfest.)

If the construction doesn't involve completely demolishing it and starting over it won't do any good. I've had to work there a few times and had the pleasure of going in the baggage handler area under the terminals a few times. It reminded me of a dungeon or a horror movie set, especially at night. The old TWA hanger needs to be demolished in a bad way to.

  6. The worst airports IMO are Paris and London Heathrow.

I actually like Amsterdam. It is easy to navigate through and has a Casino in it. :D

I think Heathrow is better now with the HE running between terminals. Terminal 2 is pretty nice actually. Unfortunately you do still have to take the bus between terminals if you want to stay air side (behind security). I got a decent meal at the usual indecent airport price, but the price is there at any major airport and usually without the quality.

One of the things I actually like about Milwaukee is you can get a decent meal at a decent price there, but yeah they do need to fix the terminal connections. Fortunately, I never connect there so not really a problem for me.

I hated the international terminal at O'Hare last time I went through there. I am hoping the Swiss Air business lounge will make all that better when connecting through there later this summer with a 4 hour layover.

  8. That’s the part I hate about Heathrow, having to take the bus to a different terminal.

Last time through, I went from Terminal 5 (I think) to Terminal 3, which was like a 10-15min bus ride (with stops on the way), and then I still had to go through security again.

There is no sense in having a big International Airport, where you actually have to leave the facility and ride a fucking bus to a different terminal.

Well we are going to have to ride the bus to the international terminal at O'Hare, which is one of the reasons I built in a 4 hour layover.

Had to do that last year in Philly, it used to be the same at LA, don't know if it still is. A couple of weeks ago we flew into Charlotte from Heathrow, went through immigration and customs and then we had to go through security again to get our connecting flight. Couldn't understand why as we'd never left a "secure" part of the airport.

Well let me elaborate. Get to National car rental and drop car off. You can see terminal A across the road from the rental place. “Airport shuttle is right there sir”. Ok no problemo. Get on the bus, he starts driving, and driving...10 min later he drops you off at....another national rental place...wtf? The shuttle bus will pick you up from here....

I check sat map and the fucker just went right by all the terminals, around the corner and up the street from the original place.

15 min later bus shows up, goes to Terminal A, which was gridlocked....swings by Terminal B and you’re told you now have to walk to Terminal D.

Walk there, check my luggage and the most confusing security line ever is presented to me. Nothing is clearly marked, so I ask the guy at one of those “smart” security lines where the regular line is, the condescending prick just points behind him. Literally sticks his thumb out and points over his shoulder.

“I’m sorry, what does that mean?”
“Which way am I pointing?!” In a rude tone...
“Well, you’re pointing to the outside vehicle drop off area...”
So he rotated a bit and points again. “How about now?”
“Now the entire fucking terminal is behind you asshole, go fuck your self!!”

So I manage to figure it out (i travel for work, dealing with new airports is not unusual for me, and normally have zero issues), get lined up and get this....entire normal security line has a single person checking docs. Just peachy.

Go through security and go to order food. Again, no instructions...finally me and a few others figure you have to use the iPad on the restaurant counter to order. I get wings and a burger. 20 minutes of standing around a woman calls out my number and goes to hand me fries and a burger. “I’m sorry, thats not mine. I got wings and a burger.
“We’re out of wings...so we gave you fries instead...”
The fuq? No one st any point said a god damn word about being out of wings.

    Once again, condescension and attitude.

    Oh yea.

    THE END!

PS. Flight was delayed 3 hours.

    Phl218 .

LGA sucks, but CDG or AMS can suck way more if SHTF.

CDG is the biggest maze and if wasn't for status and being able to bybass the commoners security lines, i would have missed a couple flights. oh and the french stink.

MKE ain't half bad. once LGA is done you be aight.

  13. I hate that shit (having to go through security multiple times, even though you haven’t left a secure area).

When leaving Africa, I go through security before flying from Takoradi to Accra, get off the plane in Accra and go through security again before going to the gate to fly to Amsterdam.

Get off the plane in Amsterdam and go through security again on my way to the gate for ATL.

Get off in ATL and go through security again.

So I go through security 4x in that one trip, even though at no point in time did I ever leave a security area (Terminal).

On our way to the UK we didn't have to go through security at Charlotte when we got off our internal flight from WV. That's what I don't understand.

I like EWR.... well, because I don't have to cross state lines and cross 2 bridges to get there, and then deal with the LGA traffic.

  16. The AA Admirals Club in LGA is one of the nicer ones. It makes LGA tolerable. Otherwise, the airport in Lagos is better than LGA.

But if you want to talk shitty airports, the airport in Jackson, MS is the worst I’ve ever been in.

If I started bitching about airports I wouldn't have time for anything else. So I don't do it often. ATL can be a nightmare, it's under construction now. I just start earlier. People are way worse than infrastructure for me.

  18. There are some decent airports. BNA is a pleasure. It was my home airport for 10 years, and I never found a reason to complain. FRA is my current home airport, and despite the fact that it is huge, and has never not been under construction, it’s pretty good.

My favorite airports are tiny ones like Monterey, St. Cloud, MN, PDK (Peachtree-Dekalb in the ATL area), Brainerd, MN, Manchester, NH. Palm Springs is pretty nice as well, everything outdoors because of the weather.

Palm Spring is very nice. It's like a Carribean styled airport with a M3 on display when you land. Can't go wrong.
