All depends on how you define "older" XR.

My bike is also the old body style, with the pink seat. I don't recall exactly when the points ignition was upgraded.

I have no complaints about my 2000, and it's certainly not the bike that prevents me from keeping up with the guys who beat me.

Pretty sure they went to CDI in '92.

I was looking at a space in Brooklyn to open up a motorcycle garage. Former metal shop. Looked and decided I didn't want the liability for the cleanup for all the chemicals and waste in the concrete (yes, I've done enviro lawsuits). Damned if the thing didn't open as a crossfit gym. I think they just painted and put mats down. You can smell the metal solvents as you walk by the place.

CRF/XR types are more badder when Taylor Knapp comes out to play in the back yard.

  5. There are only 2 kinds of people in the world, those with a Grom and those that want a Grom...whether they admit it or not.

They're faster. At least that's what we've established from very strict scientific analysis.

    Broome races Groms.

    Barney races XR100s.

    The end.

Takes racing a kids class serious...lol
No where to be seen when racing in an age and talent appropriate class like Vets or Heavy Hitters. Relies on 140cc+ motor on straights instead of using the corner speed to chatter the tires...

Exactly! Racing a 140 or bigger in the 80 class is pure talent. But hey, he’s honing his “racecraft”.

It tickles me when I hear people talk like mini racing is not serious racing. Obviously they don’t research much. Mini racing is the fastest growing racing on the planet. In America alone mini racing orgs like sfl and SCmini are popping up everywhere. It’s serious business .
