I've only ever seen Superthins for sale as tear-off options, but I've also seen lots and lots of photos of helmets with very clearly different tear-off designs. I really don't like Superthins, as they are literally too thin and their tab design always breaks off after a short while at speed. What else is out there?
Are you putting a piece of duct tape on the end after you cut the tab back? Never ever had this issue in 20 years of using them.
https://shop.racingoptics.com/p/10208c-2-mil-laminated-tearoffs-xstack™-10-clear These ones are awesome. Pretty much all the dirt guys have switched over to them. They are laminated so there is no gaps between the tear offs. They are super clear compared to a stack of individual ones.
As others said.. cut the loop and tape it... for the $$ thins are the way to go..save some your visors too..
I use ultra-shield. They have 2mm and 5mm options. I use the 2mm ones, they're certainly thick enough for me. https://www.ultrashieldrace.com/catalog/tearoffs-clear-tinted-post-kits/
Not sure what kind of helmet you are using but Arai sells their own branded ones, they were much more robust than the Superthins. https://www.sportbiketrackgear.com/arai-corsair-x-vas-v-tear-offs/
My KBC (I know, I know) had their own visor and tear-off combos. I'm sure there are other options, @tophyr
I usually just make sure I slide face down through the grass every other ride, seems to take most of the shit off.
that's been my strategy too in the past but it turned out to be pretty expensive so i'm looking for other options now
