Thought I would stop by here first.

Have a 94 Spec TZ125 that was fitted years ago with Dunlop KR149 (95/70 R17) front and a KR133 115/70 R17) rear. Looking to fit new tires and looking for a recommendation. I don't think the Dunlops are still available or the best choice today.

Bike was totally rebuilt 14 yrs ago but was put in mothballs so to speak. Time to drag it out and get it on the track.

    Thanks

Over the past few years, I've used the Dunlops (not sure what they're called - last ones I used were labeled "Moto3"), Pirelli and, currently, Bridgstone 125 gp slicks. This was on my old '94 TZ125 and my RS125 and NSF250R. All worked well. Most people I see are running the Bridgestones.

Get some new tires and hope to see you at the track!

    Dunlop Moto3 tire 90/50 17 front, 115/70 17 rear, or Bridgestone 90/580R17 front, 120/600R17 rear.

I was running the Bridgestones and was very happy with them but just tried switching to the Dunlops because there is no race day provider for Bridgestone anymore here in the west.

What I noticed: the Dunlops feel more firm, the rear tire is a little more narrow, and they seem to have a more V shaped profile than the Bridgestones. Grip on both brands is terrific, both seem to handle quite well, suspension would probably have to be set a little softer when using the Dunlops versus Bridgestones. Haven't run the Dunlops for long yet so I can't evaluate how long they last, but they seem to be wearing well so far, possibly better than the Bridgestones.

Choosing between the two might come down to handling preference, if you like the softer feel and more rounded profile you may prefer the Bridgestones, but if you like the bike to lean right over on a more V shaped profile and/or you like to really load up the front tire with hard trail braking you might prefer the Dunlops.

I run soft or med soft, I don't think anyone is stocking anything any harder than soft/med soft for that type of tire anyway.
